And I iz in one. So for the last few weeks I have been in a reading slump. How many of you have been there? And how long did it last? Because I personally think this one SUCKS. I have been in this slump for the last few weeks. In fact the only book I have read recently is Katie Reus’ release Running from the Past (which I totally enjoyed) but yet I didn’t get out of my funk…
So what’s a girl to do. Recently I have tried re-reading, started a few new books, re-organized the book shelf. Hell I even browsed through Amazon thinking I could trigger something and you know what? I got nothing absolutely nothing. So now what????
I mean what am I going to do? Will it pass? Will I live through it? Should I just give away the books (NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!) I am lost. What would you suggest?

Well, I go through the same thing. Currently, I have about a week or so to finish Outlander and I just haven’t got it in me to read it right now. I spent all weekend wondering what to read and, well, just read an e-book, but it was a good e-book.
I haven’t a clue how to get out of the slump but when I figure it out, I’ll be tellin ya!

I think the more time you spend worrying about it and stressing makes it worse. When I just go about things as normal and don’t force it; I find myself slipping back into a normal routine of reading. But sometimes you just need a break……
I dunno. They are a bummer. But my reading slump lead me to Prison Break so, I can’t complain.

I try to read lots of books from different genres as it helps me not to fall into a slump.
I am not in a reading slump. I am in a reviewing slump. Sitting down to write a review just feels too much like hard work, and i have loads that I should be writing!

I don’t want to jinx myself, but I’m just coming out of a 3 month long (ok, more like 6) slump. I think I’ve read maybe 30 books this year. Considering I’ve averaged between 250 and 400 the last few years, 30 is really, really sad.
I wish I could offer some advice, but the truth is, nothing worked for me. Not unless you’re willing to just plow through it and read anyway. Otherwise, I suggest you just wait it out. I watched a lot of t.v..

Oh I usually try and read an author I know who won’t fail me. Like I just read a Jane Austen book I’ve never read before. Or read a fluff fun book to get back on track. I go on slumps all the time and think it’s ok. Sometimes you just need a little break

I’ve hit the same thing, Sarah. I finally finished Sandra Brown’s Smoke Screen, my copy of Outlander (this month’s book club book) is buried in a mountain of books and I haven’t even thought of what to do next. Going through RRB is going to get me back on track… I know it will!
